Astana Crypto Mining | Electricity, Rules & Hardware
Astana has the most favourable cooling climate of any capital on this list, with winter temperatures that make cooling effectively free for a large part of the year. That is a real economic advantage, and it is the specific reason to look north in Kazakhstan rather than defaulting to Almaty purely because the industry is there.

Astana mining FAQ
What is Astana's advantage over Almaty for mining?+
Climate. Astana has one of the coldest winters of any capital city, so cooling cost approaches zero for much of the year. Almaty has the established mining industry and licensing centre; Astana has the better thermal economics. Which matters more depends on your power contract.
Is Bitcoin mining legal in Kazakhstan?+
Yes, with licensing required and a dedicated tariff regime for miners. The sector expanded sharply after China's 2021 ban and was then constrained by domestic power shortages, so new capacity faces availability limits.
